What We Fix in Raleigh Dryers

The Raleigh team repairs gas and electric dryers, stacked units, and compact models. If a load needs two cycles to dry, have the airflow checked soon, because trapped lint is a fire risk. These labor ranges cover the common dryer repairs in Raleigh. Electric dryers that run but do not heat most often need a thermal fuse or a heating element, gas dryers an igniter or gas valve coils, and a drum that will not turn a drive belt. The prices are labor only, parts and tax are added, and the final labor is set after the diagnosis.

  • Door switch: $120–$150
  • Thermal fuse: $130–$160
  • Drive belt: $150–$165
  • Thermostat (high-limit or cycling): $140–$180
  • Heating element: $170–$220
  • Gas dryer igniter: $160–$195
  • Motor: $150–$195
  • Control board: $150–$195
  • Gas valve coils: $170–$220
  • Gas valve assembly: $240–$330

Every dryer repair we price is on the full Raleigh price list.

Before you call, empty the lint filter, switch an electric dryer's breaker fully off and on once (if it trips again, leave it off), and watch the outside vent flap while the dryer runs. If you see smoke or flames, leave the house and call 911. The duct inside the wall and the vent cap belong to the house, so on a long drying time the technician shows you where the air stops. Here is what the team repairs:

  • Runs but does not heat
  • Takes too long to dry
  • Clothes still damp at the end of the cycle
  • Gets very hot
  • Shuts off mid-cycle
  • Will not start
  • Drum will not turn
  • Squealing or squeaking
  • Thumping or banging
  • Rumbling or rattling
  • Burning smell
  • Buttons not responding
  • Cycle will not advance or end
  • Door will not stay closed
  • Drum light not working
  • Gas dryer will not light
  • Electric dryer trips the breaker
  • Shakes or vibrates

Our dryer broke and we needed quick service! They were out quickly and got all the work done in one day. Reasonably priced too! The fact that they were able to fix our 24 year old dryer was great!

Excellent service and attention to detail. Our nine year old-LG dryer was making a weird nose - so, we reached out to Swift Appliance Repair via their online scheduler. Within minutes we had an appointment scheduled. Vladimir showed up a few days later and quickly found the problem - two rubber discs that are part of the dryer's Drum movement had worn out. He had the parts with him, so it was an easier fix than we had anticipated. In just over an hour, he repaired the dryer and we were none the happier.

The final charge, $257 (with tax) and a 90-day warranty on the work. Not sure how that price compares to other vendor's rates, but it beats having to pay American Home Shield the monthly insurance fee combined with the Service visit fee ($400). We cancelled AHS as their monthly fees continue to climb each year like clockwork, to include the service charge and we rarely use them.

Overall, we were very satisfied with Swift Appliance Repair.

Vladimir repaired my dryer and he was excellent! I couldn’t recommend him more.

He was fast, informative, as well as very clear with what he was doing, what went wrong, and how it would be repaired.

The price was very reasonable for parts, labor, and a 3-month warranty.

Our Dryer needed the blower fan replaced. I emailed Swift Appliance Repair and quickly received a response from Vladimir. He came out and verified the part needed, ordered the part and returned the next day to replace the broken part. I was well pleased with the completed work.

Great experience with Swift Appliance Repair. Had a dryer service today. Vladimir was professional, polite, knowledgeable and fast. He quickly explained what was wrong, what did and did not need fixing/replacing and cleaned the insides of the dryer as well. (Would have never thought so much hair can get inside the guts of a dryer...).

Process

How It Works

  1. Book Your Appointment

Pick an open 2-hour arrival window online or call the Raleigh team. Tell us the brand and what the appliance is doing so the technician brings the right parts.

  2. Diagnosis & Written Estimate

The technician looks the appliance over and tells you what failed. Then you get a written estimate on the spot, with parts and labor included.

  3. Your Decision

Nothing gets repaired until you approve the estimate. If you go ahead, the diagnostic fee is waived. If you don't, you pay the diagnostic fee and nothing else. And if a repair would run more than half the price of a new appliance, we'll tell you so you can decide.

  4. Repair & Warranty

If the technician has the part with them, the repair is usually done the same visit. If it has to be ordered, you pick a time for us to come back. Pay by card, cash, check, or tap. Labor is covered for 90 days.

Book a Diagnostic Visit

The diagnostic visit (service call) is $65 for most appliances and $85 for refrigerators, built-in ovens, and microwaves, per appliance. We inspect it, find the problem, and give you a repair estimate. The fee is waived when you approve the repair; if you decide not to repair, it's all you pay. Open 2-hour arrival windows are shown live.

Dryer Repair in Raleigh: Questions

How much is a dryer diagnostic in Raleigh?

Diagnosing a dryer costs $65. The fee is waived when you approve the repair, so you pay only the repair price on the estimate, plus tax. If you turn the repair down, you pay only the diagnostic. A dryer and a washer on one visit are diagnosed and charged separately.

How much does a dryer repair cost in Raleigh?

Labor for most dryer repairs runs $120 to $220, from a door switch at the low end to a heating element at the high end. A complete gas valve assembly tops the list at $240 to $330. Parts and tax are extra, and you see the written estimate before any work begins. The Raleigh price list has the rest.

How fast can you get to my dryer?

In most weeks, within a day or two. The booking page lists open 2-hour windows in real time. Say whether the dryer is gas or electric and what it is doing, and the technician can plan the parts for the visit.

Do you repair gas dryers in Raleigh?

Yes. The Raleigh team repairs gas dryers, including igniters, flame sensors, and gas valve coils, and the diagnostic fee is $65, the same as for an electric dryer. If you smell gas, leave the house at once, then call 911 and your gas utility or propane supplier from outside, and call us afterward.

Do you come to Wake Forest, Wendell, and Rolesville?

Yes. Wake Forest, Wendell, and Rolesville are served by the Raleigh team, which covers 19 towns in Wake County and nearby parts of Durham, Orange, Johnston, Harnett, and Franklin counties. To be sure about an address, find its ZIP code in the list above.

Can the technician check my washer on the same visit?

Yes. Mention it when you book, and the technician looks at both machines. Each one carries its own diagnostic fee. The labor costs for the washer side are on the washer repair in Raleigh page.

What if my dryer is not worth repairing?

A repair that would cost more than about half of a new dryer gets flagged on site by the technician, and you can decline it for the $65 diagnostic alone. That is uncommon with dryers, since most failures come down to a single belt, fuse, thermostat, or element.

Will my dryer be fixed in one visit?

Often, yes. If the technician carries the part, the repair is usually finished during the visit. If the part has to be ordered, you choose a time for us to come back, and the 90-day labor warranty covers the work either way. Say if the problem is long drying times, and the technician checks the airflow as well.

Do you work on gas dryers?

Yes. We replace igniters, spark modules, gas valves, regulators and manifolds inside gas ranges, cooktops and dryers. We do not connect appliances to gas lines and do not work on propane tanks or supply systems; that is the work of a licensed gas contractor.
