Haier Appliances We Repair in Raleigh

Jump to what usually fails in each one and what the repair involves.

Haier owns GE Appliances, and the Haier lineup now falls into two groups. One is compact and specialty equipment: compact refrigerators, thermoelectric wine coolers, portable washers and 24-inch stackable laundry. The other is full-size counter-depth refrigerators, laundry, dishwashers and ranges, increasingly built on GE platforms with GE parts and service documentation behind them.

That split decides how a Haier repair goes. On GE-based models, boards, sensors and valves are familiar parts with steady supply. On compact and older imported units the electronics are simpler, but parts are model-specific, so our technician confirms the exact model and serial number before ordering anything.

What breaks in Haier refrigerators

  • Fresh food warming on counter-depth French door models: the evaporator ices over when the defrost heater or defrost sensor fails, and the display may show Ed. We melt the ice and replace the failed part.
  • Fans stopped: an iced or worn freezer fan motor, which starves both compartments of air.
  • Lights on, no cooling: a relay on the main power board that no longer starts the compressor.
  • Ice maker idle with Er showing: the ice maker assembly or its sensor.
  • Compact units warm: compact Haier refrigerators have a mechanical thermostat and no condenser fan, so the usual causes are a failed thermostat or a start relay that clicks without starting the compressor.

What breaks in Haier washers

  • Portable washer stops with E1: water is not leaving the tub in time, usually lint or a sock at the drain pump, a kinked drain hose, or a hose outlet hung higher than the pump can lift.
  • E2 or lid faults: the lid switch on portable and compact top-loaders wears out or cracks.
  • Slow fill with E4: a clogged inlet valve screen, a failing valve or low supply pressure. A drain hose pushed too deep into a standpipe can also siphon water out as the tub fills.
  • 24-inch front-loaders: torn door boots, door lock faults and worn tub bearings.

What breaks in Haier dryers

  • Compact dryer runs long: 24-inch and portable Haier dryers heat with a smaller element, so a partly blocked exhaust or a packed lint screen stretches drying time badly. We check the element, the thermal cutoffs and the airflow together.
  • No heat on full-size models: a broken heating element or blown thermal fuse, the same parts as the matching GE dryer.
  • Stops early with damp clothes: dryer sheet residue coating the moisture sensor bars.
  • Squeal or thump: worn drum rollers or an idler pulley.

What breaks in Haier dishwashers

  • Lights flashing on compact and 18-inch models: Haier models without a digital display report a fault by flashing their indicator lights, and the pattern points to the drain, fill, overflow or door circuit.
  • Not draining: a clogged filter or a failed drain pump.
  • Not filling: the inlet valve or a stuck float switch. On countertop units, check the faucet adapter and fill hose first.
  • Water in the base: a leak trips the overflow float, so we find the source, usually a door gasket or pump seal, before resetting it.

What breaks in Haier ranges

Haier ranges are a newer line that shares much of its hardware with GE ranges.

  • Oven slow or not heating: a failed bake element on electric models, or a weak igniter on gas models that never opens the gas valve.
  • Temperature off or oven shuts down: the oven temperature sensor or a control board relay.
  • Surface element stuck on high: an infinite switch with welded contacts.
  • Convection fan noise: a worn fan motor bearing.
  • Gas burner clicking: moisture in a spark switch.

What breaks in Haier microwaves

  • Countertop model runs without heating: a failed magnetron, diode or high-voltage capacitor. On small Haier countertop units that repair can approach the cost of replacement, and we tell you before starting.
  • Dead display: a blown line fuse, usually triggered by a worn door switch.
  • Over-the-range fan or light out: the vent fan motor, a light socket or its switch.
  • Turntable stopped: the turntable motor or its coupler.
  • Buttons ignored: a worn membrane keypad.

Parts and warranty on Haier repairs

We install OEM Haier parts only. On Haier models built on GE platforms, parts come through the GE Appliances parts network and are usually easy to get. Compact refrigerators, wine coolers and older imported models use model-specific parts that can take longer to arrive, and a few are discontinued, which we tell you up front. If your Haier is still under the manufacturer's warranty, contact Haier first, since that repair is theirs. Our repairs carry a 90-day labor warranty.

Haier codes we see most often

These are the display codes that bring us the most Haier calls. The wording is ours, and the meaning can shift between model years, so treat the table as a starting point: a technician confirms the cause with tests before any part is replaced.

CodeApplianceWhat it usually points to
E1WasherPortable washer did not drain in time; pump filter or drain hose
E2WasherLid switch reads open; lid not fully closed or switch worn
E4WasherFill took too long; supply valve, low pressure or inlet screen
EdRefrigeratorDefrost did not warm the evaporator; heater, defrost sensor or control
ErRefrigeratorIce maker system fault; ice maker assembly or its sensor

Process

How It Works

  1. Book Your Appointment

Pick an open 2-hour arrival window online or call the Raleigh team. Tell us the brand and what the appliance is doing so the technician brings the right parts.

  2. Diagnosis & Written Estimate

The technician looks the appliance over and tells you what failed. Then you get a written estimate on the spot, with parts and labor included.

  3. Your Decision

Nothing gets repaired until you approve the estimate. If you go ahead, the diagnostic fee is waived. If you don't, you pay the diagnostic fee and nothing else. And if a repair would run more than half the price of a new appliance, we'll tell you so you can decide.

  4. Repair & Warranty

If the technician has the part with them, the repair is usually done the same visit. If it has to be ordered, you pick a time for us to come back. Pay by card, cash, check, or tap. Labor is covered for 90 days.

Book a Diagnostic Visit

The diagnostic visit (service call) is $65 for most appliances and $85 for refrigerators, built-in ovens, and microwaves, per appliance. We inspect it, find the problem, and give you a repair estimate. The fee is waived when you approve the repair; if you decide not to repair, it's all you pay. Open 2-hour arrival windows are shown live.

Questions About Haier Repair in Raleigh

Are you an authorized Haier service center?

No. We are an independent repair company with no affiliation to Haier or GE Appliances. If your Haier appliance is still under the manufacturer's warranty, schedule that repair through Haier first. Out of warranty, we repair it in your home with OEM Haier parts, a written estimate before any work and a 90-day labor warranty.

Which Haier models are built on GE platforms?

Many newer full-size Haier refrigerators, laundry, dishwashers and ranges are, because Haier owns GE Appliances and the two share manufacturing and many parts. Compact refrigerators, wine coolers and portable washers usually are not. The model number tells our technician which group yours belongs to, and that largely decides how quickly parts arrive.

What fails most often on Haier refrigerators?

On counter-depth French door models, defrost failures that ice the evaporator, fan motors and main power board relays. On compact refrigerators, which have no condenser fan, thermostats and compressor start relays. Ice makers on full-size models fail too, often with Er on the display. A code narrows the search, but we confirm the failed part with a meter before ordering.

Can you get parts for compact and older Haier models?

Usually, but it takes more legwork than for GE-based models. Compact and imported Haier units use model-specific boards, thermostats and fans, and some older parts are discontinued. We check availability against the exact model and serial number before you approve the repair, so you are not left waiting on a part that no longer exists.

Is a Haier compact refrigerator or wine cooler worth repairing?

It depends on the failure. A thermostat or start relay on a compact refrigerator, or a fan or control board on a wine cooler, is a reasonable repair, while a sealed-system leak on a small compact rarely justifies the labor. Thermoelectric Haier wine coolers have no compressor at all; they cool with a solid-state module and fans, and a failed fan is a simple fix.
