Bosch builds its lineup around tight tolerances: dishwashers with a single heat pump that both circulates and heats the water, 24-inch compact washers and ventless dryers, and counter-depth refrigerators that sit flush with the cabinets. The design runs quietly for years but leaves little slack, so a partly blocked drain or a weak sensor stops the cycle and posts a code.
Bosch and Thermador come from the same company, BSH, so many dishwasher and oven parts are shared and supply is generally steady. Most Bosch repairs are component swaps: pumps, sensors, control modules, hinge springs and igniters.
What breaks in Bosch dishwashers
- E24 and E25 drain faults. A kinked drain hose, an uncut disposal knockout, or glass jammed under the drain pump cover.
- E15, water in the base. The float switch trips and the Aquastop valve shuts off the supply. The leak, often a sump seal, door gasket or the heat pump, has to be found before reset.
- Heat pump failures (E09, E21). Motor and heater are one assembly, so a failed heater means a new pump.
- Dead control. Power module relays wear out on 500 and 800 Series units.
- Door drops open. Hinge springs or cables snap.

What breaks in Bosch refrigerators
- Freezer evaporator icing. On counter-depth French door models a failed defrost heater or a frozen drain line lets ice build until the fresh food side warms.
- Evaporator leaks. A pinhole in the coil means sealed-system work: new evaporator, brazing, evacuation and recharge.
- Ice maker and water valve. Slow or no ice traces to the inlet valve or a frozen fill tube.
- Fans. Counter-depth cabinets run tight on airflow, so a weak condenser or evaporator fan quickly shows up as a warm fridge.

What breaks in Bosch washers
- Drain faults (F18). The 24-inch compact washers trap socks, coins and lint in the drain pump filter behind the lower front panel. If clearing it does not help, the pump is replaced.
- Drum will not turn. Older Bosch washers use a brushed motor, and worn carbon brushes are a routine repair.
- Door lock and boot seal. An unconfirmed lock blocks the start, and a torn boot seal leaks under the door.
- Knocking in spin. Worn shock absorbers let the tub hit the cabinet.

What breaks in Bosch dryers
- Condensation dryers running long. Lint packs the condenser, airflow drops, and cycles stretch or a thermal cutout trips. We clear the condenser path and test the heater.
- Heat pump models drying slowly. Clogged heat exchanger fins cut efficiency long before a part fails.
- Container fills on a plumbed dryer. If a drain-connected dryer still asks to empty the container, the condensate pump has usually failed.
- Squeal or thump. Drum rollers and the belt wear.
What breaks in Bosch ovens and ranges
- Weak or uneven heat. Bake and broil elements, the convection element behind the rear fan, and the temperature sensor fail on Bosch wall ovens and electric slide-ins.
- Cooling fan failure. A tangential fan above the cavity cools the electronics; when it stops, the control shuts the oven down.
- Door locked after self-clean. The lock motor or its switch fails to report.
- Gas oven slow to light. A weak igniter draws too little current to open the oven valve.

What breaks in Bosch cooktops
- Burners that keep clicking. A wet or shorted burner switch, or a misaligned cap, keeps the spark module firing. Drying or replacing the switch stops it.
- Burner will not light. A cracked igniter or fouled ports; sealed Bosch burner caps must sit flat to light evenly.
- Induction zones shutting off. Power boards and the cooling fan under the glass fail, and a dead fan overheats the board.
- One radiant zone dead. An open element or a failed relay on the touch control board.

What breaks in Bosch microwaves
- Drawer will not open or close. The Bosch microwave drawer is motor driven, so a jammed gear rack, a failed drive motor or a bad position switch stops it. Realigning or replacing the drive parts fixes it.
- Runs but does not heat. Magnetron, high-voltage diode or capacitor, tested before any part is ordered.
- Dead after a pop. A failed door interlock switch blows the fuse, so the switches are checked as a set.
- Over-the-range units. Vent fan and turntable motors wear out.

What breaks in Bosch range hoods
- Blower weak or silent. On Bosch chimney and under-cabinet hoods the motor or its capacitor fails, or grease on the wheel slows it down.
- Buttons do nothing. The control board takes heat and grease from the cooktop below and fails over time.
- Lights out. Newer hoods use LED modules and drivers that are replaced as parts, not bulbs.
- Downdraft will not rise or lower. The lift motor or its limit switch fails on Bosch downdraft units.

Parts and warranty on Bosch repairs
We install OEM Bosch parts only. Because Bosch shares a parts supply with Thermador, drain pumps, heat pumps, hinge kits, igniters and sensors are usually easy to get, while control modules and some sealed-system components take longer to arrive. If your Bosch is still under the manufacturer's warranty, contact Bosch first, since we do not perform warranty repairs. Every repair we complete carries our 90-day labor warranty.
Bosch codes we see most often
These are the display codes that bring us the most Bosch calls. The wording is ours, and the meaning can shift between model years, so treat the table as a starting point: a technician confirms the cause with tests before any part is replaced.
| Code | Appliance | What it usually points to |
|---|---|---|
| E15 | Dishwasher | Water in the base pan; float switch tripped, the leak must be found |
| E24 | Dishwasher | Water not draining; often a kinked hose or blocked disposal inlet |
| E25 | Dishwasher | Drain pump blocked, often glass or debris under the pump cover |
| E22 | Dishwasher | Filters clogged or drain pump struggling; water stays in the sump |
| E14 | Dishwasher | Flow meter is not reading the water intake correctly |
| E09 | Dishwasher | Heater circuit inside the heat pump is open |
| E21 | Dishwasher | Heat pump motor blocked or not running |
| F18 | Washer | Draining took too long; drain pump filter or pump blocked |
