The smaller oven on the Wolf range would not heat, and its light was out. On a gas range, heat loss in one oven usually points to the gas feed or the valve that directs fuel to that oven, especially when the cooktop and other oven still work. A mechanical failure in that valve can shut off gas to one branch of the range. Oven lighting runs on a separate electrical circuit, so the dark light does not by itself identify the cause of the heating problem.

What We Did

We checked the oven's gas and control systems, and the gas control valve operated. There was no gas pressure ahead of it. The larger oven and cooktop were working, which helped narrow the trouble to the smaller oven's gas feed. On the main gas distribution manifold, we found that the smaller oven's mechanical valve had broken down. We replaced that valve and tested the oven afterward. The replacement addressed the failed gas-feed part, but the notes do not establish what caused the light to go out. For a fault like this, a homeowner can check whether the cooktop and other oven work, but should leave manifold and valve work to a technician. If you smell gas, stop using the range and contact your gas utility.
