IKEA does not build its own appliances. The IKEA units we service come from Whirlpool or Electrolux, and the supplier has changed over the years, so the first step is finding out which company made yours. The rating plate shows the IKEA article number plus the manufacturer's model or product number, and that tells us which platform, parts and diagnostics apply.
IKEA kitchens lean toward integrated designs: panel-ready dishwashers and refrigerators wearing IKEA cabinet fronts, built-in ovens under a cooktop or in a tall cabinet, and hoods built into wall cabinets. Many repairs start with removing a panel or easing a unit out of its cabinet without damaging the cabinetry.
What breaks in IKEA refrigerators
- Fresh food side warm. On Whirlpool-built models, a failed defrost heater or thermostat lets frost block the evaporator; on Electrolux-built models, a stuck air damper or evaporator fan is common.
- Integrated door not sealing. The cabinet front hangs on brackets or sliding hardware that loosens; the gap lets warm air in and builds frost.
- Ice maker not filling. A frozen fill tube or a failed inlet valve.
- Running nonstop. Blocked toe-kick airflow or a condenser fan fault.
Compressor and refrigerant leak problems get sealed-system repair.

What breaks in IKEA dishwashers
- Will not run, display shows i30. On Electrolux-built units, water in the base tray lifted the anti-flood float. We fix the leak first, often at the sump, a hose or the door seal.
- Not draining. A clogged filter, a kinked drain hose under the sink or a failed drain pump.
- Panel door drops open or slams. Heavy IKEA fronts wear the door springs and cables; we replace them and set tension for the panel weight.
- Poor cleaning. Clogged spray arms or, on Whirlpool-built units, a failing diverter.

What breaks in IKEA ovens and ranges
- Oven heating unevenly or not at all. A failed bake, broil or convection element. Many IKEA ovens hide the bake element under the oven floor, so a failure there shows only as weak heat from below.
- Temperature wrong. The oven temperature sensor or the control board; the sensor gets tested first.
- Control resets or goes blank. A built-in IKEA oven depends on its cooling fan; when the fan stops, heat reaches the electronics, so we check it whenever the control acts up.
- Door hard to close. Worn hinges or a bent hinge receiver, common when the open door is used as a shelf.

What breaks in IKEA cooktops
IKEA sells many induction cooktops, along with radiant glass and gas models.
- Induction zone dead or beeping. A failed power board or cooling fan, or a fan starved of air by items in the drawer below. Clearance under the cooktop matters in IKEA base cabinets.
- Touch controls not responding. Moisture on the glass or a failed touch board.
- Radiant element out. A burned element or failed switch.
- Gas burner clicking or weak. A wet ignition switch, a cracked igniter or clogged burner ports.

What breaks in IKEA microwaves
- No heat. The magnetron, high-voltage diode or capacitor. On a built-in IKEA unit, the microwave usually has to come out of its trim kit and cabinet before those parts can be reached.
- Dead unit. A door interlock switch failure that blew the main fuse.
- Built-in microwave shutting off mid-cycle. A built-in IKEA microwave relies on its trim kit and cooling fan for airflow; a blocked path trips the thermal cutout.
- Turntable or light out. The motor, coupler or lamp. Over-the-range models add hood fan and light faults.

What breaks in IKEA range hoods
- Integrated hood fan will not start. On hoods with a pull-out visor, the fan starts when the visor slides out; the switch behind it wears or falls out of alignment.
- Noisy blower. Grease on the blower wheel or worn motor bearings.
- Weak draw on recirculating hoods. A saturated charcoal filter, or grease filters left too long.
- Lights or controls dead. An LED driver or a touch control board, which on IKEA chimney hoods sits right above the cooking heat.

Parts and warranty on IKEA repairs
We install OEM parts only, and for IKEA that means the builder's parts: Whirlpool parts for Whirlpool-built units, Electrolux parts for Electrolux-built ones. Pumps, elements, sensors, fans and control boards usually come through the builder's parts system, while IKEA-specific trim and panel hardware can take longer. If the appliance is still under IKEA's appliance warranty, contact IKEA first, since warranty repairs go through them. Our repairs carry a 90-day labor warranty.
IKEA codes we see most often
These are the display codes that bring us the most IKEA calls. The wording is ours, and the meaning can shift between model years, so treat the table as a starting point: a technician confirms the cause with tests before any part is replaced.
| Code | Appliance | What it usually points to |
|---|---|---|
| i10 | Dishwasher | Electrolux-built: not filling; closed supply valve, clogged inlet filter or kinked hose |
| i20 | Dishwasher | Electrolux-built: not draining; filter, drain hose or drain pump |
| i30 | Dishwasher | Electrolux-built: anti-flood float tripped by water in the base |
| F9E1 | Dishwasher | Whirlpool-built: long drain; filter, drain hose or pump |
| F3E0 | Oven & range | Whirlpool-built: oven temperature sensor, its wiring, or the control |
| F9E0 | Oven & range | Whirlpool-built: supply wiring problem at the outlet or junction box |
