Haier owns GE Appliances, and the Haier lineup now falls into two groups. One is compact and specialty equipment: compact refrigerators, thermoelectric wine coolers, portable washers and 24-inch stackable laundry. The other is full-size counter-depth refrigerators, laundry, dishwashers and ranges, increasingly built on GE platforms with GE parts and service documentation behind them.
That split decides how a Haier repair goes. On GE-based models, boards, sensors and valves are familiar parts with steady supply. On compact and older imported units the electronics are simpler, but parts are model-specific, so our technician confirms the exact model and serial number before ordering anything.
What breaks in Haier refrigerators
- Fresh food warming on counter-depth French door models: the evaporator ices over when the defrost heater or defrost sensor fails, and the display may show Ed. We melt the ice and replace the failed part.
- Fans stopped: an iced or worn freezer fan motor, which starves both compartments of air.
- Lights on, no cooling: a relay on the main power board that no longer starts the compressor.
- Ice maker idle with Er showing: the ice maker assembly or its sensor.
- Compact units warm: compact Haier refrigerators have a mechanical thermostat and no condenser fan, so the usual causes are a failed thermostat or a start relay that clicks without starting the compressor.

What breaks in Haier washers
- Portable washer stops with E1: water is not leaving the tub in time, usually lint or a sock at the drain pump, a kinked drain hose, or a hose outlet hung higher than the pump can lift.
- E2 or lid faults: the lid switch on portable and compact top-loaders wears out or cracks.
- Slow fill with E4: a clogged inlet valve screen, a failing valve or low supply pressure. A drain hose pushed too deep into a standpipe can also siphon water out as the tub fills.
- 24-inch front-loaders: torn door boots, door lock faults and worn tub bearings.

What breaks in Haier dryers
- Compact dryer runs long: 24-inch and portable Haier dryers heat with a smaller element, so a partly blocked exhaust or a packed lint screen stretches drying time badly. We check the element, the thermal cutoffs and the airflow together.
- No heat on full-size models: a broken heating element or blown thermal fuse, the same parts as the matching GE dryer.
- Stops early with damp clothes: dryer sheet residue coating the moisture sensor bars.
- Squeal or thump: worn drum rollers or an idler pulley.
What breaks in Haier dishwashers
- Lights flashing on compact and 18-inch models: Haier models without a digital display report a fault by flashing their indicator lights, and the pattern points to the drain, fill, overflow or door circuit.
- Not draining: a clogged filter or a failed drain pump.
- Not filling: the inlet valve or a stuck float switch. On countertop units, check the faucet adapter and fill hose first.
- Water in the base: a leak trips the overflow float, so we find the source, usually a door gasket or pump seal, before resetting it.

What breaks in Haier ranges
Haier ranges are a newer line that shares much of its hardware with GE ranges.
- Oven slow or not heating: a failed bake element on electric models, or a weak igniter on gas models that never opens the gas valve.
- Temperature off or oven shuts down: the oven temperature sensor or a control board relay.
- Surface element stuck on high: an infinite switch with welded contacts.
- Convection fan noise: a worn fan motor bearing.
- Gas burner clicking: moisture in a spark switch.

What breaks in Haier microwaves
- Countertop model runs without heating: a failed magnetron, diode or high-voltage capacitor. On small Haier countertop units that repair can approach the cost of replacement, and we tell you before starting.
- Dead display: a blown line fuse, usually triggered by a worn door switch.
- Over-the-range fan or light out: the vent fan motor, a light socket or its switch.
- Turntable stopped: the turntable motor or its coupler.
- Buttons ignored: a worn membrane keypad.

Parts and warranty on Haier repairs
We install OEM Haier parts only. On Haier models built on GE platforms, parts come through the GE Appliances parts network and are usually easy to get. Compact refrigerators, wine coolers and older imported models use model-specific parts that can take longer to arrive, and a few are discontinued, which we tell you up front. If your Haier is still under the manufacturer's warranty, contact Haier first, since that repair is theirs. Our repairs carry a 90-day labor warranty.
Haier codes we see most often
These are the display codes that bring us the most Haier calls. The wording is ours, and the meaning can shift between model years, so treat the table as a starting point: a technician confirms the cause with tests before any part is replaced.
| Code | Appliance | What it usually points to |
|---|---|---|
| E1 | Washer | Portable washer did not drain in time; pump filter or drain hose |
| E2 | Washer | Lid switch reads open; lid not fully closed or switch worn |
| E4 | Washer | Fill took too long; supply valve, low pressure or inlet screen |
| Ed | Refrigerator | Defrost did not warm the evaporator; heater, defrost sensor or control |
| Er | Refrigerator | Ice maker system fault; ice maker assembly or its sensor |
| F1 | Refrigerator | A compartment temperature sensor, usually fresh food, reads open or shorted |
| F2 | Refrigerator | A compartment temperature sensor, usually freezer, reads out of range |
